Bageshwar: Cow dung is still used as fertilizer in hilly districts like Bageshwar of Uttarakhand, but before putting it in the fields, the cow dung is prepared as fertilizer for a year. Then this fertilizer is applied in the fields. This organic fertilizer, prepared in a special home process, competes with the most expensive chemical fertilizers in the market.
While talking exclusively to Local 18, tree lover Kishan Malda tells that this fertilizer is made from cow and buffalo dung. This pure organic fertilizer is prepared in one year. By applying this fertilizer in the field, there is good profit in crop production and the quality of the soil remains intact for a long time.
How is organic fertilizer made?
Tree lover Kishan Malda says that the process of preparing organic fertilizer from cow dung is very easy and cheap. In this process, cow or buffalo dung is collected around the house. To make compost, one layer of cow dung and another layer of weeds are added. Every month, cow dung (cow urine) is added to it, which increases the amount of nitrogen in the dung. This process is repeated regularly for a whole year, so that well decomposed and nutritious manure can be prepared.
Better alternative to chemical fertilizers
Organic fertilizer made from cow dung proves helpful in increasing the yield of crops. It does not contain any harmful elements like chemical fertilizers, which increases the fertility of the soil and provides essential nutrients to the plants. Apart from this, it is also friendly to the environment, because the use of chemical fertilizers often pollutes the soil and water, whereas organic fertilizers are completely natural.
Profitable deal for farmers
The use of organic fertilizers improves the quality and production of crops, resulting in more profits for farmers. Compared to the rising prices of chemical fertilizers, manure made from cow dung is cheaper. With the use of this fertilizer, the fertility of the soil remains for a long time, due to which farmers do not need to buy fertilizer again and again.
Contribution to protecting the environment
Use of this organic fertilizer made from cow dung is also helpful in protecting the environment. Due to chemical fertilizers, harmful chemicals accumulate in the soil, which harm the environment in the long run. Use of organic manure not only improves the quality of the soil, but it also promotes biodiversity.
By applying manure made from cow dung in the fields, farmers can not only increase the yield of their crops but can also reduce their dependence on expensive chemical fertilizers. In such a situation, organic fertilizer made from cow dung is a better and more beneficial option than chemical fertilizer, especially in rural and hilly areas.
