New Delhi. After a long wait, Royal Enfield has finally revealed its new motorcycle Royal Enfield Bear 650. The first official pictures of this new bike have been revealed and it will soon be presented at the EICMA Motor Show to be held in Milan, Italy. There is news that the company can also announce its price in this show on November 5.
Bear 650 is the company’s fifth bike in the 650 cc segment, which is based on the twin platform like Interceptor, Continental and Super Meteor. It can be considered a scrambler model of Interceptor, but many new changes have been made in its design and features, which make it even more attractive. Let us know about this bike in detail.
Royal Enfield Bear 650: Features and Technology
The bike weighs around 214 kg and gets a scrambler-style seat, LED headlamps and taillamps, LED indicators, number plates on the side panels like racing bikes and a ground clearance of 184 mm. This bike is about 2 kg lighter than the Interceptor and due to its better ground clearance, its off-roading capability also improves.
In this bike, Royal Enfield has given a round shaped TFT display in place of the dual pod instrument console, as seen in the Himalayan and Guerrilla models. This display supports Google Maps and can be controlled with the new switchgear. Bear 650 has been made available in five color options, which will make it easier for customers to choose the option of their choice.
Power and Performance
Bear 650 has a 648 cc parallel twin engine, which generates power of 47 hp and torque of 56.5 Nm. This time the company has made changes in the exhaust system and instead of dual exhaust, it has given a single exhaust pipe, which is installed on the right side of the bike. Due to this change, an increase in the torque output of the bike can also be seen.
Hardware and Suspension
The same chassis of the Interceptor has been used in this new bike, but its suspension and the size of the wheels have been adjusted according to the Scrambler bike. Its front and rear wheels have been increased from 18-inch to 19-inch and 17-inch respectively. Additionally, the Bear 650 gets Showa’s up-side-down (USD) fork and new dual shock absorber suspension at the rear, which has also improved its off-roading capability.
The company has also upgraded the suspension travel, which now increases to 130 mm/115 mm from the Interceptor’s 110 mm/88 mm. Due to this the seat height has also increased to 830 mm. MRF’s Nylorex block pattern tires have been used in the bike, although the option of tubeless tires is not available in it.
Braking and ergonomics
Bear 650 has a 320 mm disc brake at the front and 270 mm disc brake at the rear. It also has a dual-channel ABS system, which improves the braking safety of the bike. The ergonomics have also been upgraded, including a wider handlebar and a new foot peg position, providing a more comfortable position for the rider.
All these changes made in Bear 650 make it a great scrambler bike and soon it can knock in the Indian market also.
