Every year, two days after Diwali, Yamraj celebrates the festival with his sister Yamuna on the day of Bhaiya Dooj i.e. Yam Dwitiya festival and after celebrating the festival, he returns to his world.

Importance of bathing in Yamuna on this day
Yamuna is one of the major rivers of India, which has been given the status of Mother Goddess. According to religious beliefs, if one takes bath in Yamuna on the day of Yama Dwitiya, then all the sins of the person in previous births are eradicated. On this day, reciting ‘Yamuna Stotra’ and chanting the mantras of Goddess Yamuna also provide special benefits. Besides, Lord Yama also maintains his blessings. By taking bath in Yamuna on this day and chanting the mantras of Yamuna, the fear of untimely death is eliminated.
