Masoor dal Farming: You can sow many types of pulses in your field in winter. One of these is lentils. You can cultivate lentils only at the beginning of winter. By sowing seeds at the beginning of winter, the crop is quite good. Plants can tolerate mild cold. If sown later, the plants will be smaller and the beans will ripen late and in less quantity. Lentil plants require light sunlight. Plant its seeds at a depth of 1 to 2 inches. Keep a distance of one inch between seeds and 18 to 24 inches between rows. By doing this the crop will be good.
Right time to sow lentils
Forest area officer Madan Singh Bisht said that for rain-fed farming, seeds should be sown in the second fortnight of October and for irrigated farming, by the first fortnight of November (from October 15 to November 15).
Know the timing of irrigation
Lentils can be cultivated successfully in non-irrigated and rainfed areas. If winter occurs once a year, lentils do not require irrigation. If there is a system of irrigation, the first light irrigation should be done 40-45 days after sowing and the second irrigation should be done at the time of filling the grains in the pods. By doing this the crop is good.
