Police Commissioner Mohit Aggarwal held a meeting in the camp office regarding Dev Diwali.
On Dev Diwali in Kashi, VIPs, tourists and devotees will be under three-tier security. The security squad will monitor from land, water and air (drones). There will be tight security arrangements all around, from roads to intersections and Ganga ghats. 20 IPS officers including DCP-ADCP

There will be an IPS officer in-charge at major ghats including Namo Ghat, Dashashwamedh Ghat, Assi Ghat, who will decide the duty. Deputy SP, Inspector and Inspector will handle the crowd at the ghat. ACP has been given the responsibility of public address. IAS officers heading the departments will be at Namo Ghat, apart from this, PCS officers will also be posted at different ghats.
On the other hand, the Municipal Commissioner including 8 IAS officers and Municipal Corporation officers and employees will also remain at the ghats. Apart from the Commissionerate, police personnel from nearby districts and many zones have been deployed on duty, today these personnel will join the police line and handle their duty.
On Wednesday, Police Commissioner Mohit Aggarwal held a briefing with the officers due to the arrival of the Vice President of India and Dev-Diwali. Brainstormed on making concrete security arrangements and final touches at the ghats on Dev Diwali. CP decided diversion on the routes leading to Ganga and gave necessary instructions on police duty.
CP said that there will be one officer in-charge at each ghat along with DSP and adequate number of police forces. The officer in charge will brief the policemen at the duty point. Will remain alert while on duty. Police personnel will treat tourists like guests.
There will be a team of 10-10 policemen on duty at the duty point for crowd management. The team will be traveling with rope, dragon light, flood light, public address system for crowd control, personnel will use whistle (whistle). The water police team will continue patrolling the Ganga river. They will keep an eye on the movement and operation of boats.
Duty point in-charge will strictly follow diversion
The Police Commissioner first discussed route diversion. It was decided that there will be no vehicle zone from Maidagin to Godaulia intersection on Dev-Diwali festival. At the same time, movement of all types of vehicles will be restricted on Assi and Bank of Baroda Lanka route. On Dev-Diwali, transportation of boats coming from other districts in Ganga river will be completely prohibited beyond Adikeshav Ghat and Garhwa Ghat, those boats will be stopped there.
100% safety instructions will be followed while operating boats on the ghats of Kashi. No one will board the boat carrying tourists without a life jacket. Operation of hulled boats will be strictly prohibited and will be monitored separately.
Additional Police Commissioner inspected Namo Ghat in view of Dev Diwali festival. He was accompanied by DCP Kashi Zone, ACP and Kotwali police and other officers.
Drones and fireworks banned on ghats, take strict action
On the occasion of the world famous festival of Dev Diwali, the Police Commissioner has declared the city a ‘no fly zone’. The ban will be effective from tonight till midnight on 16th November. The decision was taken due to the arrival of lakhs of devotees, local residents and various distinguished guests. There will be a complete ban on the use of drones, kites, balloons, remote operated micro lights aircraft and paragliders without permission.
The Police Commissioner said that strict action will be taken by registering cases against drones and personal fireworks on the ghats. Organizers of cultural programs at the ghats have been instructed not to play ear-fodu (loud sound) and obscene music. Officers also search light, dragon light, PA. Police Commissioner Mohit Aggarwal discussed the security arrangements and VIP movement during the arrival of the Vice President. He said that the Vice President’s program is proposed on November 15. During Dev-Deepwali, their security, traffic and other arrangements were discussed point by point. The Police Commissioner said that the general public should not face any problem during the movement of VIPs on the proposed sites and routes. Traffic should not be disrupted. Along with this, alternative routes for movement should be determined.
Policemen will use ropes in the streets of the route for crowd control. Arrangements for surveillance through CCTV and drone cameras should be ensured at the VIP event venue and tour route. VIPs should be allowed to enter the venue only after thorough checking. After checking the presence of the police personnel on duty, the officer in charge should brief them on the spot. Instructions were given to use the phone as per requirement.
