Dehradun: In the era of modernity, the lifestyle of humans has completely changed. The effect of which is now visible on the health of small children also. Problems like diabetes have now become common even in young children. Every week at least two children are seen suffering from this disease in Doon Hospital. Every day 12 patients suffering from type-1 diabetes reach the hospital for examination. Local 18 spoke to Dr. Nutan Singh, Head of Pediatrics Department of Doon Hospital, on the reasons and symptoms behind the increase of this type of disease in children.
Many times children reach unconscious state.
There are some diseases which appear to be genetic, but due to the changing times, the effect of changed lifestyle is also visible in the people. The diseases which used to affect adults have now become common among children also. While talking to Local18, pediatrician Dr. Nutan Singh told that Type-1 diabetes occurs due to lack of insulin in the body. Many times, if the insulin receptors are not working properly, then this disease also arises due to that. Many times, this disease progresses so much in children that when their relatives bring them to the hospital, the child is in an unconscious state.
Improvement in lifestyle is very important
Referring to the symptoms, pediatrician Dr. Nutan Singh says that generally some symptoms are seen in this disease. Such as- loss of weight of the child, increased hunger and thirst, excessive urination, stomach ache, vomiting are the main symptoms. How to avoid this disease. Answering this question, Dr. Nutan Singh says that for this we should improve our lifestyle. Insulin does not work properly if there is excess fat tissue. The less fat tissue there is, the more insulin will work properly.
Even a one year old child can have diabetes
Dr. Nutan Singh, while advising the parents regarding Type-1 diabetes, said that they should also get their children’s kidneys and eyes checked from time to time. Symptoms of diabetes are found even in children up to one year of age. In many cases it is hereditary, but in today’s times it is arising due to poor lifestyle.
