A vicious thief tried to escape from Varanasi’s Baragaon Harhua police post on Friday evening. He pushed the constable who had arrested him in front of the bike and ran away. At some distance the local people laid siege and caught him and handed him over to the police.

However, the police team presented the accused in the court, from where he was sent to jail. The accused had stolen the bike from Harhua vegetable market on Friday morning itself, after which the traders caught him and handed him over to the police. The police is interrogating him but he tells a new story every time, the accused has not even revealed his name and address yet.

In Harhua of Baragaon police station area, incidents of bike theft have baffled the police for several consecutive days. About six bikes have been stolen from the old vegetable market of Harhua in a month. On Friday, a youth broke the lock of a farmer’s bike in the vegetable market.
He was about to run away with the bike, when the vehicle owner caught him. After this, the people present in the market beat him and informed the police. Constable Upendra Kumar brought the youth to Harhua post.
When the young man was matched with the CC footage of old incidents, it was found that he had committed incidents of bike theft earlier also. Now the top officials were also informed about the possibility of the incidents being revealed during the interrogation.
The soldiers of the post were preparing to take him to the police station. He told about going to Laghushanka and started running away from the police post. When constable Upendra Kumar caught hold of him, he pushed him in front of a speeding bike going towards Babatpur.
The constable’s leg was fractured due to the collision with the bike. The leg of the injured soldier has been plastered in a private hospital. On the other hand, Baragaon police station incharge Atul Singh said that a youth has been arrested on charges of theft. He is repeatedly giving wrong name and address. He is being interrogated, strict action will be taken against him.
