Dehradun: On the lines of One Nation One ID, ‘Apar ID’ is being made in government and private schools of all the districts of the state including the capital Dehradun. This is the digital ID card of the students. The objective of Automated Permanent Academic Registry i.e. APAAR ID is to develop a unique identification system for all students. This initiative is part of the Centre’s One Nation, One Student ID programme. This special digital ID of children is being prepared in Dehradun and also in Vikasnagar, Chakrata, Kalsi, Tuni. If we talk about Dehradun district, till now the data of 14 percent children has been uploaded on the site.
What is Apar ID?
‘Aapar ID’ will be a digital identity of students of schools and colleges. It is being made on the lines of One Nation ID. The complete academic record of the student will be recorded in this card. In which information about exam marksheet, character certificate, school transfer and other documents will be available. In other words, your child’s entire academic record will be linked to one ID. Where you will get all the documents. This campaign is being intensified in private and government schools under the One Nation, One Student ID program. Like Aadhaar card, a 12 digit code will be given in Apar ID also.
Important things related to Apar ID
1. Lifelong Educational Identity: Every student gets a 12 digit identity.
2. It works as a permanent digital identity for students.
3. It is helpful for works like transfer certificate in ID, entrance examination, recruitment.
4. Credit Transfer: Facilitates transfer of credit between institutions.
5. Lifelong Identity: The student’s information remains with him throughout his educational and professional life.
Parents’ permission is required for this
While talking to Local18, Director General of Education Department Jharna Kamthan said that ‘In all the schools, whether private or government, a unique ID is being made for all the children studying in them. This is being done under the new National Education Policy. For this, Aadhar card of children and permission of parents is necessary. If we talk about all the schools in the state, this work has been done in about 25 percent of the schools. Our aim is to complete it 100 percent this year.
Helpful in assessing the child’s ability
Trupti Pant, a resident of Dehradun, says that she received an information from her son’s school regarding ‘Apar ID’. There was a consent form in that PDF. Which will have to be filled by the parents of each student and given to the school. This is a good initiative. Through this, all the records of the student will be centralized. With this, all the information on that unique ID will be available with one click. The most important thing is that with this you can assess the ability of your child on the basis of his records recorded from year to year.
Uploading data is a big challenge
Most of the schools in Dehradun appreciated this initiative. However, according to the principals of many schools, most of the children in the district study in private schools. In such a situation, the challenge before us is how quickly we can make them. For this we need to make a lot of preparations. Uploading the data of all the children is a big task in itself.
