Benefits of crop insurance
Farmers in hilly areas often demand compensation for losses, but miss out on insurance. Many people are not able to take advantage of the scheme due to lack of information, but under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, farmers get compensation for crop loss at minimum premium. This scheme compensates for crop losses caused by natural calamities such as flood, drought, hailstorm, fire and insect attacks. With this insurance, farmers get financial stability and their hard work does not go waste.
These crops will be insured
Wheat crop will be insured in Rabi under the Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme in the Agriculture Department. Apart from this, under the reorganized weather based crop insurance scheme in the Horticulture Department, there will be insurance of mango, peach, apple, litchi, orange, sweet lime, malta and pea in Rabi. Apart from this, according to the data of last 5 years, compensation is also given if the crop productivity in the area is low. This year, the last date to apply for Rabi crop insurance has been kept as 15th December. There is still time, farmers should get their crop insured in time. So that they themselves do not have to suffer crop loss in future.
Value of application as per drain
The farmer has to pay crop insurance fee according to each drain. For Rabi crop wheat, Rs 14.63 has to be paid per drain. In which the insurance rate has been fixed at Rs 976. At present the number of farmers registered in the district is 47,522, but if we talk about the figures of each year, very few of these farmers apply for crop insurance, although the scheme is continuously publicized by the department. Despite this, farmers take less interest in crop insurance, but for future security, farmers should get their crops insured.
