Pt. Gendalal Dixit, who ignited the flame of patriotism Pt. Dixit’s patriotism and devotion towards the freedom struggle started appearing from childhood itself. In 1921, when he arrived as a teacher at Jhanni Vidyalaya in Auraiya, along with education, he also instilled in the students the spirit of struggle against the British rule. With his inspiration, people like Bharatveer Mukundi Lal Gupta and the famous revolutionary Laxmananand Brahmachari of Chambal region jumped into the freedom struggle.
Formation of Matruvedi Sanstha and revolutionary campaign Pandit Gendalal Dixit formed his own organization Matruvedi, which gradually included ten thousand members. These revolutionaries carried out several major operations against the British, the most famous of which was the attack on the Hathkant police station, in which 21 British soldiers were killed.
However, a plan of Pt. Dixit to target British collectors failed due to a traitor, Dalpat Singh. Dalpat Singh informed the police, due to which Pandit Dixit and his companions were surrounded. In this conflict, 35 soldiers of Matruvedi were martyred and Pt. Dixit was caught in injured condition.
Pandit Gendalal Dixit was imprisoned in the temporary jail of Gwalior Fort, but with his cleverness he broke the jail and reached Delhi via Kota and again got involved in the mission of freedom struggle. He was given the title of Dronacharya by martyr Chandrashekhar Azad and other revolutionaries.
Demand to change the name of ‘Home Ganj’ to ‘Mukundi Lal Nagar’ During the program, Municipality Chairman Shri Anoop Gupta supported the demand that the locality ‘Home Ganj’ of Auraiya be renamed as ‘Mukundi Lal Nagar’ as this area belonged to Bharatveer Mukundi Lal Gupta, who played an important role in the freedom struggle.
