More than 50 patients suffering from ear pain are arriving here every day. The largest number of these patients are children. The surprising thing is that patients have been approaching the doctor complaining of ear pain and headache for more than a week. After examining the ears of the patients, it was found that a parasitic flea was making a home in their ears. Fleas are being found in the ears of not just one such patient but about 10 patients every day.
Dr. Digpal Dutt, ENT specialist of Joint Upazila Hospital, Srinagar, told Local 18 that 50 patients are coming to the OPD every day, out of which about 10 patients are being found to have parasitic fleas in their ears, due to which the patients are having pain in the ears and head. It is happening.

He told that fleas are found in animals. As soon as winter starts, it starts looking for a warm place, due to which when animals come close, it enters the ears and makes its home there. Due to this, ear infections and headaches occur. Most of the patients found with ear fleas are small children.

Dr. Digpal said that if there is pain and pus formation in the ear, then definitely consult a doctor, because fleas entering the ear has become a common problem during winter. Do not use any kind of medicine or drop in the ear without doctor’s advice. At the same time, due to cold and cough, there is often pain in the ears.
How to protect yourself from fleas
Most of the people in the mountains do animal husbandry and it is common to find fleas in animals. Especially in winter, fleas start looking for warm places. That is why it enters the ears of humans from animals. To prevent this, whenever you go near animals, use cotton in the ears. If you have any kind of pain in the ear, get your ear checked by a doctor immediately.
