Haldwani. An incident that puts humanity to shame has come to light from Haldwani in Nainital district of Uttarakhand. Here a mentally ill girl was gang-raped. One accused is an e-rickshaw driver and the other is a pickup driver. The incident is of 26th November. The 20-year-old victim suddenly left the house and lost her way. The family members searched for him extensively but nothing was found. After which they reached the police and soon the girl was found. Police arrested both the accused on Sunday. After presenting him in the court, he has been sent to jail.
According to the information received from the police, on the day of the incident, when the victim was wandering, e-rickshaw driver Ravi Sahu (29), who was looking for a ride, came to her. He had guessed that the girl was mentally weak. Ravi took her with him after asking him to drop her home. He brought him to Badi Mandi on Bareilly Road. Here he called his friend pickup driver Lovelesh. Both of them raped the girl and then fled leaving her on Bareilly Road. After a police complaint, the victim was recovered the next day.
The accused were presented in court and sent to jail.
Mukhani police station in-charge Vijay Mehta said that a case was registered in this regard on the complaint of the victim’s family. The investigation was handed over to SI Deepa Joshi. Police started investigation and on Sunday, both the accused Ravi Sahu and Lovelesh were arrested near Government Inter College of Indira Nagar police station, Banbhulpura. The police presented both the accused in the court, from where they were sent to jail. He said that the police is investigating the matter. Every possible effort will be made to give strict punishment to the culprits.
