Tight security at major mosques including Shahi Jama Masjid
Tight security arrangements have been made at Shahi Jama Masjid and other major mosques. Police have prepared a 3-layer security system. Adequate force has been deployed to keep an eye on every visitor.
Only those who offer namaz regularly should come to the mosque.
In the meeting, DM Dr. Rajendra Pansia and SP Krishna Bishnoi talked with religious leaders and mosque heads. He has appealed that all the namaz worshipers should offer namaz only in the mosques of their respective areas. Only those people should come to Jama Masjid who offer namaz here regularly.
3-layer security, deployment of magistrates
DM Dr. Rajendra Pansia said that 30 magistrates have been deployed in the city for security. A 3-layer security system has been implemented at Shahi Jama Masjid and other major places. All arrangements are in place to ensure that the prayers are conducted peacefully.”
SP Krishna Bishnoi said that an appeal has been made to the religious leaders and the general public not to fall prey to any kind of rumor or instigation. It is everyone’s responsibility to maintain a peaceful environment. Keeping in view the security in Sambhal, administrative preparations are in place to ensure that the prayers on December 6 and Friday are conducted in an atmosphere of complete peace and harmony.
Violence broke out again during the survey on November 24.
On Sunday, November 24, at 6.30 am, the team along with DM-SP had again reached Jama Masjid to survey. People of Muslim community got angry after seeing the team. Within a short time, more than two to three thousand people reached outside Jama Masjid. When the police tried to stop, some people pelted stones. After this violence broke out.
The survey was conducted for the first time on November 19 on the petition of the Hindu side.
The Hindu side filed a petition in the Sambhal District Court on 19 November. In the 95-page petition, the Hindu side has made the basis of two books and a report. These include Baburnama, Ain-e-Akbari book and a 150-year-old report of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
Sambhal civil court had ordered commissioner survey on the same day. A few hours after this order, the commissioner team conducted the survey on the same day. The survey report is to be submitted within a week. The Jama Masjid side has filed an appeal against this order of the civil court. The next hearing on the case will be on November 29.
What is the controversy about Sambhal mosque?
The Hindu side has been claiming for a long time that there was a temple on the site of Sambhal’s Jama Masjid. On November 19, 8 people reached the court regarding the matter and filed a petition. Among them, Supreme Court lawyer Harishankar Jain and his son Vishnu Shankar Jain are prominent. Both of them are also looking after the matters of Taj Mahal, Qutub Minar, Mathura, Kashi and Bhojshala.
Apart from these, the petitioners include the names of lawyer Partha Yadav, Mahant Rishiraj Giri of Banana Temple, Mahant Dinanath, social workers Vedpal Singh, Madanpal, Rakesh Kumar and Jeetpal Yadav. The Hindu side claims that this place used to be the Shri Harihar Temple, which was demolished by Babar in 1529 and converted into a mosque.
