Haridwar: In Hindu religion, all days and months are dedicated to devotion. Similarly, any month or date of the Hindu calendar is also considered specially dedicated to some deity or god. For example, the month of Margashirsha of the Hindu calendar has been described as a month dedicated to Lord Vishnu. In this month, if worship, havan, recitation of mantras, chanting of mantras, recitation of Vishnu Sahastranam, fasting etc. are done for Lord Vishnu, then special results are obtained. In Hindu religion, there are many festivals to attain salvation, but in the month of Margashirsha, salvation is attained through a very easy method.
According to the Hindu calendar, a total of 24 Ekadashi tithis arrive in a year. According to religious texts, on the Ekadashi date of Margashirsha Krishna Paksha, Mahashakti Devi Ekadashi was born from the part of Lord Vishnu, while on the next Paksha Shukla Paksha, Mokshada Ekadashi, there is a religious belief that one can attain salvation only by fasting.
By which mistake does Lord Vishnu get angry on Mokshada Ekadashi?
Giving information to Local 18 about what should not be done on Mokshada Ekadashi, Haridwar’s astrologer Pandit Shridhar Shastri tells that to attain salvation, fasting on the Ekadashi date of Margashirsha Shukla Paksha as per the rituals gives special results. Margashirsha month is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Salvation is attained only by fasting on Ekadashi as per the rituals.
He further explains that to observe the fast of Mokshada Ekadashi, one should wake up in Brahma Muhurta, take bath and resolve to fast on Ekadashi and after reciting Ekadashi, one should chant the mantras of Lord Vishnu, do havan etc. Parayan of Ekadashi fast is done on the next day in which after reciting the glory of Ekadashi fast, prasad should be distributed by chanting the mantras of Lord Vishnu.
These things are prohibited during fasting
Pandit ji further explains that before fasting on Ekadashi, some things have to be kept in mind. Onion, garlic and non-vegetarian items should not be consumed from Dashami Tithi. These items should be completely stopped from Dashami Tithi and also one should not consume rice or any item made from rice during the fast. If you have consumed these things during your fast, then many types of sorrows and troubles will come in your life and Lord Vishnu will get angry with you.
