NEW DELHI: Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren on Friday distributed portfolios among his newly sworn-in ministers, keeping key departments like Home, Personnel, and several others under his charge, as per a government notification.
A total of 11 MLAs – six from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), four from Congress, and one from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) – were inducted as ministers on Thursday.
Soren himself took oath as chief minister on November 28, marking the JMM-led coalition’s return to power after defeating the BJP-led NDA in the state assembly elections.
Here’s a list of who got what:
- Hemant Soren (CM): Home, Personnel, Administrative Reforms, Official Language, Road Construction, Building Construction, and undistributed departments.
- Radhakrishna Kishore (Congress): Finance, Commercial Tax, Planning and Development, Parliamentary Affairs.
- Deepak Biruwa (JMM): Revenue, Registration and Land Reforms (non-registration), Transport.
- Chamra Linda (JMM): Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, and Backward Classes (excluding Minority Welfare).
- Sanjay Prasad Yadav (RJD): Industries, Labour, Planning, Training, and Skill Development.
- Irfan Ansari (Congress): Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare, Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs, Disaster Management.
- Ramdas Soren (JMM): School Education and Literacy, Registration.
- Hafizul Hasan (JMM): Water Resources, Minority Welfare.
- Deepika Pandey Singh (Congress): Panchayati Raj, Rural Works, Rural Development.
- Yogendra Prasad (JMM): Drinking Water and Sanitation, Excise and Prohibition.
- Sudhivya Kumar (JMM): Urban Development and Housing, Higher and Technical Education, Tourism, Art, Culture, Sports, and Youth Affairs.
- Shilpi Neha Tirkey (Congress): Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Cooperative.
The JMM-led coalition secured 56 of the 81 seats in the assembly elections, cementing its second consecutive term in power. The Winter Session of the Jharkhand Assembly is expected to begin soon, with the newly appointed ministers now in charge of their respective departments.
