Punishment given to accused husband Devendra
The court on Friday sentenced life imprisonment to the husband who brutally killed his teacher’s wife two and a half years ago in Meerut. The husband hit his wife on the head 20 times with a hammer in front of their 12-year-old son. Kept beating him until he died. Shivlokpuri of Kankarkheda

Husband Devendra, convicted in the case of murder of teacher Pratima two and a half years ago in Shivlokpuri of Kankarkheda, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Additional District Judge. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 70 thousand. Devendra had killed his wife by hitting her with a hammer and slitting her throat with a knife for not giving him the money for liquor. After the incident, Devendra reached the police station and surrendered. In the court, government lawyer Padam Singh presented a total of seven witnesses in the case.
Both of them had a love marriage which ended tragically. Devendra lived with his wife Pratima and son Ashu in Shivalokpuri of Kankarkheda police station area. Pratima was a teacher in Nanu’s government school. Devendra was unemployed for a long time. On the morning of 14 April 2022, Devendra asked Pratima for money for liquor. Pratima refused to give the money. There was a dispute between the couple on this. Pratima angrily slaps Devendra. Devendra hit Pratima on the head about 20 times with a hammer. Due to this the statue fell down bleeding. He was breathing smoothly. Then Devendra slit his throat with a knife. Pratima’s brother Vishal had filed a report about the incident. Father became a murderer in front of his son At the time of the incident, Pratima and Devendra’s son Ashu was only 12 years old. He studied in class 5 at St. Patrick’s School. The dispute between the couple had started in front of Ashu. When the fight started, Ashu tried to stop them. He kept pleading with his father. But Devendra did not listen to him. Killed his wife in front of his son.
Husband used to enjoy wife’s money Devendra lived in Shivlokpuri. Pratima lived in Shraddhapuri. After coming to know about the love affair, the family members got both of them married. Devendra used to work in a private company before marriage. She left the job after marriage. He started drinking a lot. There used to be frequent fights between husband and wife regarding this. The household expenses were covered by Pratima’s salary. No one had ever thought that the love marriage of Pratima and Devendra would have such an end.
