Dehradun: ‘Kalam Kitchen’ serves free food to the poor, Haider has been serving for years in front of Doon Hospital

Dehradun: In this era of inflation, it is difficult for the poor to get food. In such a situation, a free counter is being set up in the center of the city. Former President and Missile Man Dr. A. P.J. Taking inspiration from Abdul Kalam, Haider started an organization in his name by connecting with the concept of love, service and progress. This organization is working to provide free lunch to the needy outside Doon Hospital. Rajma rice and dal rice are served from 1 to 2 pm, just a few steps away from the hospital. Along with the patients, attendants, laborers and passers-by also eat this food.

Always wanted to do social service
While giving information to Local 18, Founder of Dr. Abdul Kalam Development Institute, Haider Irshad said that he is an architect by profession. He wanted to do something for the society since childhood. That is why after getting the job, he started this journey of social service. He believes that it is our responsibility towards the society in which we live to take care of everyone.

Just like Dr. A. P.J. Abdul Kalam worked with complete dedication for the country and society, he took inspiration from him and created Dr. A.I. P.J. Started Abdul Kalam Development Organization in which some people from the society working like him joined. His organization was registered in the year 2018. He further explains, ‘We are helping the common people in many ways as per our capacity for food, health and education.’ From time to time they also organize health camps and competitions for children.

Kalam Kitchen is providing free food
Haider Irshad told that he had started giving food to the people during Covid, but after that he is now making arrangements to give lunch to the people through Kalam Kitchen near Doon Hospital. They started setting up free counters some time back. He said that our main objective is to serve those people who come to Doon Hospital from far away places and are worried about food.

Here we serve people by setting up a counter and serving food from 1 pm to 2 pm. He says that food is needed by everyone and people in the hospital get worried in the morning, that is why he tries to help people in a small way.
