Later the United Nations announced to celebrate International Friendship Day on 30th July. However, many countries like America, India, Bangladesh celebrate Friendship Day on the first Sunday of August.

Why is Friendship Day celebrated only on Sunday?

It is said that in America, a person was murdered on the first Sunday of August in 1935. The person who was murdered had a close friend, when he came to know about this incident, he also committed suicide in despair. At that time, seeing such affection between friends, the American government had decided to celebrate Friendship Day on the first Sunday of August. After this, Friendship Day started being celebrated on the first Sunday of August in other countries including India.
