Miley Cyrus has purchased the iconic Bob Mackie dress that she wore for her performance at the Grammy Awards in February this year.
The dress was a part of Bob Mackie’s 2002 runway collection – To Broadway With Love.
When Miley Cyrus performed at the Grammy Awards 2024 in February, she made a dazzling statement in a stunning Bob Mackie creation from 2002. The singer wore a shimmery silver dress from the designer’s 2002 runway collection – To Broadway With Love, and performed her hit song Flowers. Now, almost months after the iconic performance, the singer has purchased the dress days before it was set to be auctioned.
Miley Cyrus performed in the Bob Mackie dress at the 66th Grammy Awards. The silver shimmery dress features a cutout detail and a halter neckline which crisscrossed at the back and gave it a backless design. The chiffon dress has been adorned with rhinestones, sequins, and beads. Miley paired the dress with black strappy heels and a dangling diamond earring. She styled her hair in a voluminous retro blowout.
The dress was all to be auctioned by Julien’s Auctions in the famed Beverly Hills. Ahead of the auction, the pop star added the dress to her collection. The dress was listed at an estimated price of $6,000 to $8,000. Reports mention that the singer has purchased the dress for an undisclosed amount. A part of the proceeds will be donated to MusiCares, a non-profit organization that offers health, educational, and financial assistance to people working in the music industry.
Appearing in Bob Mackie’s documentary Naked Illusion, Miley Cyrus spoke about wearing the dress. She said, “One of the best parts of wearing a Bob Mackie on stage is that sometimes the audience is just as excited to see a Bob Mackie in person as they are to see you. It really looked like I was giving it all I got; I really wasn’t doing anything but minding my business and singing the damn song because Bob and his dress was really doing all the work.”
Bob Mackie spoke about Miley wearing his creations and added, “She has borrowed a few things in the past, including for her New Year’s Eve special with Dolly Parton last year. Every time I’ve ever seen her in anything that I’ve (designed), I’ve adored it because she loves to perform and get dressed up–you know that she’s loving every minute of it.”
