SROPNews,Kanpur: In response to the recent terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh characterized the incidents as “unfortunate,” asserting that there is no security lapse on the part of the forces. He emphasized that security personnel are actively engaged in combating terrorism and have been successful in reducing the number of attacks in the region compared to previous years.
Speaking to reporters in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, Singh stated, “This is not an issue of security lapses. Compared to earlier times, attacks have been reduced. Our security forces are on alert, and we believe that a time will come when terror activities will be fully eradicated from Jammu and Kashmir, paving the way for rapid development.” Singh acknowledged the recent attacks, noting, “The attacks that happened were unfortunate, but our security forces are giving a befitting reply; many terrorists have been neutralized.”
On the same day, an encounter between security forces and terrorists occurred in the Khanyar area of Srinagar. Officials reported that the operation is ongoing, with police and security forces actively engaged. The Kashmir Zone Police provided updates via social media, indicating an exchange of fire during a cordon and search operation.
In another incident on Friday, terrorists targeted two non-locals in Mazhama, Budgam district. Following the attack, security forces quickly cordoned off the area to apprehend the attackers. Fortunately, the injured individuals were promptly taken to a nearby hospital, where their conditions are reported to be stable.
Earlier this month, on October 29, security forces successfully neutralized three terrorists during a critical encounter in Akhnoor, Jammu and Kashmir, following an attack on an Army convoy. This was preceded by a tragic incident on October 20, where a doctor and six construction workers lost their lives due to a terrorist attack at a tunnel construction site along the Srinagar-Leh national highway in Ganderbal district.
