Bageshwar: Many medicinal plants are found naturally in Bageshwar district of Uttarakhand, but now farmers can earn profits worth lakhs by systematic cultivation of these plants. In this direction, the district administration has promised to provide all possible assistance to the farmers. A garden of aromatic and medicinal plants is being prepared in the remote Baira-Majheda village of Bageshwar, in which aromatic plants like rosemary and kutki will be cultivated on one hectare of land. District Magistrate Ashish Bhatgani says that the aim of this initiative is to motivate farmers towards cultivation of aromatic and medicinal plants, so that their income can increase.
Under the Chief Minister Migration Prevention Scheme, the district administration has decided to promote the cultivation of aromatic and medicinal plants. Under this scheme, farmers can cultivate medicinal and aromatic plants like rosemary, kutki, which have high demand in the market and are sold at good prices. Along with this, animals do not harm the crops of these plants, due to which the farmers’ crops remain safe.

The district administration has started planting a rosemary and kutki garden on one hectare of land in Baira-Majheda village. District Magistrate Ashish Bhatgani said that if this project is successful, other farmers will also be encouraged to adopt this type of farming. This initiative will not only increase the income of farmers but will also create new employment opportunities in rural areas.
