A speeding Uttar Pradesh Transport Corporation bus going from Kanpur to Bidhuna hit Rani and Divanshi, a student traveling on a bicycle, and went into a ditch. Both the girl students were seriously injured due to the collision. As soon as the bus entered the ditch, there was screaming among the more than two dozen passengers inside the bus. Some passengers also suffered minor injuries. As soon as information about the incident was received, the police reached the spot and immediately sent the passengers to their destination in other vehicles. The injured girl students were taken to Shivli CHC for treatment where after first aid, both of them were referred to Kanpur.
