The matter is of Jhabreda police station area of Roorkee district. Where a case of fraud had come to light in the name of giving loan of Rs 36 crore 50 lakh to farmers by making fake documents. In which the Cane Manager of Laksar Sugar Mill and the Account Manager of Shakumbhari Sugar Mill were arrested by the police. Dehradun CBCID was investigating the case registered in Jhabreda police station. Both the accused had taken crop loans from the farmers by making fake documents from 2008 to 2020, but when the notice reached the farmers, the entire matter was exposed. The police is busy searching for three accused including the then PNB bank manager in the case.
Fraud in the name of farmers
It is being told that the farmers and laborers for whom fake documents were prepared for taking loan from 2008 to 2020 were not even aware of it. In case of non-payment of loan installment for a long time, Punjab National Bank issued notices in the name of the concerned. When the bank’s notice was received, there was panic among the farmers. After this, a complaint of fraud was lodged in Jhabreda police station. The investigation of the case was handed over to CBCID. In the case, Jhabreda police detained accused Umesh Sharma and Pawan Dhingra on 02.11.2024.
2 sugar mill employees arrested
Police say that, for a long time, the fraud was being carried out with the nexus of sugar mill employees and bank employees. After which the entire matter could be revealed with the notice of the bank. The accused prepared fake documents and took a loan of Rs 36 crore 50 lakh in the name of farmers and embezzled it. Two arrests have been made in the case, while the search is on for the other three people.
