Nainital: A heart-wrenching incident is coming to light from Almora, Uttarakhand. Where a bus met with an accident this morning. This accident happened near Kupi village of Salt, where a bus went out of control and fell into a ditch about 150 feet deep. 36 people lost their lives in the accident. And 26 people were injured. It is being told that the bus was going from Golikhal area of Salt towards Ramnagar. The accident bus belongs to Garhwal Motors Owners Union Limited (GMOU). As soon as information about the incident was received, the administration started relief and rescue operations.
Monday morning came as a disaster for the people returning from their homes after celebrating Diwali. This is considered to be the biggest bus accident of Uttarakhand. Before the passengers could understand anything, the bus had gone into the ditch. Everyone was disappointed to see the blood-soaked bodies lying at the spot. The government has expressed deep condolences to the people killed in this accident and has announced proper arrangements for the treatment and compensation of the dead and injured.
This caused the accident
The accident bus UK12 PA 0061 belonged to Garhwal Motor Owners Union Limited. In which people were returning after Diwali holidays. This was the reason why the bus was also packed with passengers. According to eyewitnesses, there were more people in the bus than its capacity. Due to overloading, the bus lost its balance and fell into the ditch. As soon as information about the accident was received, police, SDRF and local villagers reached the spot, and rescue work was started. After which the injured were immediately taken to the hospital. During the rescue operation, 28 people died on the spot, while 8 people died in the hospital.
Compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the families of the deceased
Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami has announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh each to the injured. He also instructed the officials that strict steps should be taken to stop such incidents. Taking the incident seriously, the Chief Minister also ordered suspension of RTO enforcement in the respective areas of Pauri and Almora. Also ordered Kumaon Division Commissioner Deepak Rawat to investigate the accident. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Dhami himself reached Ramnagar in the afternoon to inquire about the well-being of those injured in the accident and after reaching the hospital, after knowing about the well-being of those injured in the accident and their families, he assured all possible help.
President and PM Modi also expressed grief
Expressing his deep condolences on the Almora bus accident, President Draupadi Murmu also wrote on Instagram – “The news of the death of many people including women and children in a road accident in Almora, Uttarakhand is heart-wrenching. “I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.” Expressing grief over the Almora accident, Prime Minister Modi has also announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh from the PM Relief Fund to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the injured. Rahul Gandhi has also expressed grief over the Almora bus accident.
