It is also providing appropriate grant amount for opening home stays in hilly areas. The objective of which is to stop migration from the mountains and to provide self-employment to the youth. There is immense potential for tourism in Uttarakhand. In such a situation, efforts are being made by the Tourism Department to make tourism a source of employment. Atul Bhandari, Tourism Officer, Tourism Department, Nainital, Uttarakhand, during a special conversation with Local 18, said that many types of schemes are being run by the Tourism Department to promote tourism. Under this, you can build your homestay in the mountains through the schemes run by the Tourism Department.
You will get this much subsidy
The government will provide grant amount under “Trekking Attraction Center Home Stay Grant Scheme” to the local youth or rural people who want to set up homes on trekking routes in Uttarakhand. Under this scheme, the government will give a subsidy of Rs 60,000 per room. Apart from this, if the home stay requires renovation, then for this also the government has announced an assistance amount of Rs 25,000. The objective of this scheme is not only to encourage tourism but also to provide economic benefits to the local people. Some special eligibility criteria have also been set by the government to avail the benefits of this scheme. Preference will be given to local villagers living within a radius of approximately 2 km of the trekking route, so that tourists can have a rich local experience.
What is Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Scheme?
Tourism Officer Atul Bhandari said that the Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Scheme has been launched by the Uttarakhand government with the aim of promoting self-employment for the natives here. Under this scheme, you are given a subsidy of 33 percent by the government. Under this scheme, you can start all types of businesses like home stay construction, hotel, restaurant, bakery construction, adventure sports, travel agency etc. For this you will have to contact the District Tourism Office and you can also apply by visiting the website of Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Scheme, vcsgscheme.uk.gov.in.
Subsidy will be available up to Rs 15 lakh
Pandit Deen Dayal Home Stay Scheme is being operated by the Uttarakhand government with the aim of promoting tourism. Under this scheme, there is a provision of giving 50 percent subsidy by the government, which can be given up to a maximum of Rs 15 lakh. There is a provision to give subsidy in interest also. Which gives 50 percent interest. Which is maximum up to Rs 1.5 lakh in a year. This will be available for 5 years. By taking advantage of this scheme, you can construct a new home stay or renovate your old house and convert it into a home stay.
