Almora Bus Accident: Road accidents became the worst in Uttarakhand…20 thousand people died in 24 years!

Haldwani. There is a wave of mourning in the state due to a horrific road accident in Almora district of Uttarakhand. In Marchula of Salt development block of the district, a bus filled with passengers went out of control and fell into a 150 feet deep gorge. 36 people died in the accident while 27 were injured. The bus was a 42 seater and there were more than 63 passengers in it. It is being told that the bus was coming from Pauri to Ramnagar.

There were 63 passengers in the 42 seater bus of Garhwal Motor Users Cooperative Society. In the accident, 28 people died on the spot, while 8 died while being taken to the hospital. Only the injured people passed the information on to others. As soon as information about the accident was received, the police administration reached the spot. Also SSP Almora reached the spot. SDRF team has also arrived for the rescue operation. 36 people have been confirmed dead in the accident.

Main causes of road accidents
This is not the first major accident for Uttarakhand. Now road accidents are becoming a big problem in the state. If we look at the history of major road accidents in Uttarakhand, thousands of people have lost their lives in accidents so far. The main reasons for road accidents in Uttarakhand are weather, human error i.e. carelessness and poor condition of roads and vehicles. But still neither the government nor the administration pays this kind of attention. Statistics show that during the last 24 years, about 20 thousand people have lost their lives due to road accidents in the state. In the last 5 years alone, about 5,500 people have become victims of road accidents.

Number of accidents increasing every year
It is a matter of concern that despite all the efforts of the police and transport department, the number of road accidents is not reducing year after year. However, various awareness campaigns are conducted from time to time. Not only this, road safety meetings are also held from time to time under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, but the result seems to be zero.

12 June 2024 : Three women died when their bus fell into a ditch near Gangnani on Gangotri National Highway in Uttarkashi district. 26 people were injured.
15 June 2024 : The tempo traveler had fallen into the river in Rudraprayag district. 16 people died in this accident.
20 August 2024: 7 people died when the bus fell into a ditch near Gangnani on Gangotri NH in Uttarkashi district. 27 were injured.
8 October 2023: Seven passengers died when their bus fell into a ditch in Kaladhungi area of ​​Nainital district.
2 April 2023: The Uttarakhand Roadways bus going from Mussoorie to Dehradun had fallen into a deep ditch. 2 people died in this accident. 38 were injured.
