New Delhi. Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has launched its first flex fuel motorcycle, Honda CB300F Flex-Fuel. It is being said to be India’s first 300cc flex fuel motorcycle. This motorcycle will be available in India at a price of ₹ 1.70 lakh (ex-showroom) and can be purchased through the company’s BigWing dealership channel.
Although this is Honda’s first flex fuel motorcycle in India, this is not the first time that Honda has made a flex fuel motorcycle. Honda has already sold more than 7 million flex fuel motorcycles in Brazil. Interestingly, the first company to introduce a flex fuel motorcycle in India was TVS, which launched the Apache RTR 200 Fi E100. However, due to lack of availability of flex fuel in the country, it could never be sold. Honda has also not yet shared the delivery timeline for the CB300F flex fuel.
Engine and Features
The Honda CB300F flex fuel motorcycle is powered by a 293.52cc oil-cooled, 4-stroke, single-cylinder PGM-FI engine, which supports up to E85 fuel (85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline). This engine generates power of 24.5 bhp and peak torque of 25.9 Nm. It also has assist slipper clutch with 6-speed gearbox.
This motorcycle looks similar to the version already sold in India. In terms of safety, it has disc brakes on both the wheels, with 276 mm disc brake at the front and 220 mm disc brake at the rear. It also has dual-channel ABS and Honda’s Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), which helps in better handling. Talking about suspension, it has golden USD front forks and five-step adjustable rear mono-shock. The motorcycle also has an all-LED lighting system for better visibility.
Digital Features and Intelligent Ethanol Indicator
Apart from this, Honda CB300F Flex Fuel has a digital instrument cluster, in which the rider can adjust the brightness level. The digital instrument panel shows information like speed, odometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, twin trip meter, gear position and clock. The special thing is that it also has an intelligent ethanol indicator, which gives a signal when more than 85 percent ethanol is being used in the fuel, so that the rider can manage the quality of the fuel.
The launch of this motorcycle is an important step for the Indian automobile industry, which will promote flex fuel technology.
