Ramnagar/Almora (Govind Patni/Kishan Joshi): People are paying the price of lack of public transport in the mountains by losing their lives. Returning home before festivals and then returning to the field for children’s education during employment, lack of vehicles has become an enemy of life. The major bus accident in Almora district, in which 36 passengers died, is a big proof of this. The presence of 63 people in this 42 seater bus, which met with an accident in Marchula, Salt, raises many questions. Read a special report on this from Uttarakhand…
First of all, let us tell you that last Monday i.e. on November 4, 36 passengers died and 27 others were injured when a bus fell into a deep gorge in Almora district of Uttarakhand. The condition of 3 of the injured remains critical. At the time of the incident, 63 people were traveling in the 43-seat bus. The bus, operated by the Garhwal Motor Owners Association, was going to Ramnagar in Kumaon, about 250 km from Pauri in the Garhwal region. This accident happened at around eight in the morning. He said the bus was just 35 kilometers away from its destination Ramnagar when it fell into a nearly 200 meter deep gorge in Marchula area of Almora.
Actually, everyone wishes to celebrate the festival with their family, but the biggest problem for this in Uttarakhand is the lack of public vehicles on the roads. On top of that, dilapidated roads. If there were parfaits on the roadside, the lives of dozens of people in Marchula could have been saved. The anger of the dead and injured was so much that the public representatives and officials who reached the spot also had to face opposition. This investigation has been given to Kumaon Commissioner.
This biggest accident till date in Almora district shook everyone. 20 years ago, a KMOU bus fell in Kalidhar near Chitai, in which 29 people died on the spot. 10 years ago, 12 people died in a road accident in Maulekhal. For this, Congress has cornered the government demanding action against negligent officials as well as increasing the number of public vehicles during festivals.
Is overload or the system responsible for the death of 36 people? Due to which people had to reach their destination quickly for their employment and children’s school. If there were better roads and more vehicles, people would not have to travel many kilometers standing in the mountains. Now it has to be seen whether the system will wake up after this incident or will the matter be put to rest after making headlines for a few days?
