Dehradun. Chhath festival has started across the country from November 5 with Nahay-Khay. In Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, Bihari Mahasabha has started preparations for the great festival of Chhath. Materials used in puja are being purchased in the markets of Dehradun. Women observe this difficult waterless fast to wish for the well-being of their children. Chhath Mahaparva will be organized at many places in Dehradun, this includes many places like Maldevta, Tapkeshwar, Premnagar, Chandrabani. The administration has started cleaning the ghats for Chhath. Kunti, a resident of Begusarai, Bihar, told that she has come to visit her daughter’s in-laws house and will celebrate Chhath festival here in Dehradun.
Naresh Paswan, who has been selling Chhath Puja items in Jhanda Bazaar of Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand for the last 30 years, said that earlier his father used to sell Chhath Puja items in Jhanda Bazaar. Before that, people of Bihar were not able to get Chhath items here. When his father started selling goods by bringing goods from Samastipur in Bihar. He orders bamboo baskets, soup, etc. from Bihar, while he buys doob, grapefruit, sugarcane and turmeric plants from the local market of Dehradun and sells them to the people. Naresh believes that even away from Bihar, people can celebrate this festival of Chhath Maiya in the right way, this is our endeavor.
Chhath will be celebrated here in Dehradun
Bihari Mahasabha President Lallan Singh said that the 4-day long Chhath festival starts 6 days after Diwali. In this, worship of Sun God and Shashthi Devi has special significance. He told that like every year, Bihari Mahasabha is organizing Chhath Mahaparva this time too. He told that Bihari Mahasabha will organize Chhath Puja mainly in Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple, Prem Nagar, Chandrabani, Maldevata.
Fasting for 4 days is difficult
Secretary of the General Assembly, Chandan Kumar Jha said that this festival is especially celebrated in states like Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand. Today, the popularity of Chhath festival is seen not only in India but even abroad. Chhath Puja fast is one of the most difficult fasts. In this, the rules of fasting have to be followed for the entire four days and the devotee observes a waterless fast for the entire 36 hours. Nahay-Khay, Kharna, Astachalgami Arghya and Usha Arghya have special significance in Chhath Puja.
