On this day, if a desi ghee lamp is lit in the home temple and all the Gods and Goddesses are anointed with Ganga water, then Lord Bholenath gets pleased and grants the desired results. Along with worshiping Lord Shiva on the full moon day of Kartik month, worshiping Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi is beneficial in wealth, property etc. In the evening, if Arghya is offered to the Moon by adding raw milk, Ganga water, rice and sugar in it, then happiness, prosperity and wealth come in life. The importance of donating food, clothes etc. to the needy on the day of Kartik Purnima has also been explained. By bathing in Ganga, donating lamps and performing havan on the day of Kartik Purnima, all the sins of previous births are eliminated and one attains salvation.
