Dehradun. This is a case which puts the image of Uttarakhand Police under question. A police constable cheated a businessman and grabbed Rs 47 thousand. The case is of Mehunwala area of Patelnagar, where the accused wearing police uniform cheated money from a businessman in the name of online payment transfer and then ran away showing his arrogance. Police have registered a case against the accused. He will be arrested soon. The case is being investigated.
According to the information received, the incident took place on November 9, when businessman Aditya Anand was working at his shop. Then a person in police uniform reached his shop and showed his name plate, calling himself Jauni Singh, a constable of Patel Nagar Kotwali. He told that his mother-in-law’s health is very bad and he urgently needs Rs 47 thousand. The businessman believed his words and the accused mentioned about transferring the money through Airtel Payment Bank online.
Constable absconds after money transfer
The most shocking thing was that accused Jauni Singh talked about cash payment from the businessman. Coming to trust, Aditya immediately transferred the money, but as soon as he demanded cash payment from the constable, he threatened and fled from the spot. Aditya immediately lodged a complaint with the police and the matter reached Patelnagar police station.
I have cheated before too
Police investigation revealed that the accused was none other than constable Jauni Singh posted in the police line. This is not the first time that this constable did this. In May also, the name of the accused constable had come up in a similar fraud case. Then he had transferred 49 thousand rupees from a shopkeeper, but instead of paying in cash, he disappeared from there too.
Case registered against the accused
Patelnagar Inspector KK Lunthi confirmed the case and said that a case has been registered against the accused constable Jauni Singh and he will be arrested soon. The case is being investigated.
