Almora. If you are a cattle rearer and want to get involved in goat rearing, then the cattle rearers are getting a lot of benefits under the Goat Valley Scheme of the Uttarakhand Government. Under the government scheme, 10 goats and one goat are being given free of cost to the cattle farmers. Apart from this, a loan of ₹ 30000 is also being given for five goats. According to the information received from the Animal Husbandry Department of Almora, one animal farmer from every block is given the benefit of this scheme. The objective of the scheme is to connect more and more people with employment and make them self-employed. For this, the Animal Husbandry Department selects cattle herders and gives them goats.
Chief Veterinary Officer of Almora, Dr. Yogesh Aggarwal, while talking to Local 18, said that the cattle rearers are getting a lot of benefits under the Goat Valley Scheme by the state government. Goat Valley means valley and where all the goats are gathered. Most of the people in the hilly areas rear goats. The Animal Husbandry Department is continuously working to increase the self-employment, migration and morale of the cattle rearers and the cattle rearers are continuously taking the benefits of this scheme.
10 goats and one goat free
He said that under the Goat Valley Scheme, 10 goats and one goat are given free of cost by the department. For goat enclosure, ₹8000 is taken from them for repair. Apart from this, if a cattle farmer needs a loan for five goats, then he can get this loan at a low interest rate, in which a loan of ₹ 30000 is available. Apart from this, five goats can also be taken at 0% interest rate under Deendayal Upadhyay Scheme. Any animal farmer can establish a unit of 20 goats and one goat. He said that there are 100 cattle rearers in Hawalbagh block of Almora district, who have benefited from this scheme. It is mostly women who are taking advantage of this scheme.
