HaldwaniPunarnava Mahila Samiti, which is continuously working for social upliftment, organized a mass marriage of 16 poor girls on the occasion of Tulsi Vivah. This marriage took place at Parvatiya Cultural Utthan Manch located in Haldwani, in which girls from poor families from Haldwani and UP were tied together in marriage. The committee took charge of all the expenses of this marriage, which included wedding items, food and all other arrangements.
The wedding procession reached the wedding venue dancing to the tune of drums and band instruments, and the marriage of the girls took place en masse. On this occasion, a large number of people arrived to bless the bride and groom. Women associated with social organizations of the city gifted household items to the new couple, then the girls were sent off from the courtyard of the temple with bands playing.
Committee chairperson Lata Bora said that the committee has been conducting mass marriages of poor girls for the last 15 years. Till now around 400 girls have been married. All the expenses of the marriage are borne by the committee. Lata Bora said that she feels very happy that because of us, 16 daughters have been able to settle down. Every year on the day of Tulis Vivah, mass marriages are organized by our committee. Most of the dignitaries of the city are present in the marriage to cooperate as well as to perform Kanyadaan.
These gifts were given to the new couple
All the household items were given to the new couple by the committee. In which there was all the stuff including bed, bedding, box, utensils, clothes. Apart from this, other people of the city have also given gifts to the new couple as per their wish.
