How to make rotna?
Sushma told that to make rotna, firstly syrup is prepared from jaggery and water. Then wheat flour, ghee, fennel, sesame and coconut are added to it, kneaded and left for 10 minutes. After this, small laddus are made, put in molds, shaped, fried in oil and left to cool. It looks like a biscuit. It is said that when a girl comes from her parents’ home to her in-laws’ house after marriage, she is given rotna. Daughters take them to sweeten their mouths. Apart from this, on big festivals like Diwali and Holi, people carry sweets like laddu, barfi and rasgulla, but in the mountains, only rotana is used to make the loved ones sweet.
