Balbir Parmar/Uttarakashi: Actually, in most of the weddings, one cannot go from baraati to gharati without spilling the jam. Many people go to weddings with great enthusiasm so that they can party with friends. But can’t do it now. Because drinking alcohol has been banned at weddings. Hey, don’t worry, this is not the decision of any government nor any District Magistrate… This rule is not being implemented in the entire country, this is just a resolution passed by women in one village.
In Udri village of Gajana Patti, Uttarkashi, a proposal has been passed by the women to ban liquor in all weddings and other functions. A fine will also be imposed on those people, including families serving liquor in the village, who are consuming liquor personally at any function. In Udri village of Dunda development block, all the villagers including Mahila Mangal Dal organized a meeting under the chairmanship of village head Bhagchand Bisht, in which it was unanimously decided that the consumption of alcohol in any function in the village has been completely banned.
Despite that, anyone who drinks liquor will be fined Rs 50,000. Besides, that family will also be boycotted. At the same time, people bringing liquor will not get any kind of support from the village, along with this there will be an open ban on liquor in the market also. If any shopkeeper is caught openly selling or serving liquor, he will also be fined, for this Mahila Mangal Dal will itself inspect. In the meeting, women said that even after the liquor ban, people drink liquor in hotels and on the roadside. Therefore, personal fine will be imposed on those people also.
