CERT-In has issued a security warning regarding Google Chrome. It is said that hackers can run the code as per their wish. All Chrome users have been advised to update the version immediately.
New Delhi. The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued a “high” severity warning for Google Chrome. The reason for this warning is that there are many vulnerabilities in the browser, which can increase the risk.
Moneycontrol’s report states that these flaws can allow outside cyber attackers to run their desired code on the vulnerable system, thereby gaining access to the device and easily stealing people’s personal information.
Hackers can take advantage of this weakness to illegally access sensitive user data such as passwords, banking information, addresses and other personal information. This may increase the risk of financial fraud and other security risks. According to the report, these vulnerabilities stem from anomalies like “Type Confusion” in Chrome extensions and V8, which could allow attackers to bypass the browser’s security.
Which Google Chrome versions are affected?
Users who are using Google Chrome versions earlier than 130.0.6723.69/.70 for Windows and Mac and 130.0.6723.69 for Linux may be affected by these flaws. All users have been advised to update their Chrome browser quickly to ensure their security. These flaws are not there in the latest 130 version of Chrome.
How to update Google Chrome to version 130?
To update Google Chrome to the latest version, follow these steps-
- Open Google Chrome and click on the three dots in the top right corner.
- Go to Help option and select About Chrome.
- Google Chrome will automatically check for new updates and install the latest version.
- You will have to restart the browser to complete the update. Do this only when you are asked to do so.
Why is it necessary to update?
In today’s digital age, security of online data is of utmost importance, especially when it comes to sensitive details like passwords and banking information. Therefore, you should not ignore any security updates that can protect your data and privacy.
