BHU affiliated colleges have asked for 100 seats for PhD. In the meeting held with the Controller of Examinations and Additional Controller of Examinations, the colleges placed their demands according to the resources available and the number of teachers. Awaiting committee approval
For this, the controller of examinations was made in-charge of the colleges. A meeting was held with the principals of the colleges affiliated to the examination department. About a hundred seats were sought from the colleges for research. After discussion with the principals, the examination controller has sent this proposal to the concerned departments. The structure and seats of the research course will be decided after the proposal of the affiliated colleges is approved in the meeting of the departmental research committee. It was decided in the meeting of the academic council that the teachers of the college will also be able to do PhD. The college will also have to arrange for fellowships for research scholars. Till now the affiliated colleges were allowed to admit only five students for PhD in a session. Now these seats will increase to 25.

Demand has been raised for interview of all students
Colleges affiliated with BHU include Vasant Mahila Mahavidyalaya Rajghat, Vasant Girls Mahavidyalaya Kamchha, DAV PG College and Arya Mahila PG College. Student organizations demanded from BHU that the system of interview of non-NET research candidates should be changed by BHU. At present there is a provision to call five students on one seat for non-net interview. The students demanded that all the students should be called for interview. The controller of examinations has assured to convey this demand of the students to higher officials.
