New Delhi. Samsung may soon launch a new version of its first generation ring-shaped health and fitness tracker. According to discussions, Galaxy Ring 2 will come with new features, thin design and long battery life. Meanwhile, Apple is also developing a new wearable smart device at the same time.
In a post on the South Korean online platform Naver, user @yeux1122 said that Samsung is planning to release a successor to the Galaxy Ring “sooner than originally planned.” This statement is a bit vague, but if Samsung had planned a later release, it could mean that the device could launch in 2025. This device may also come with the Galaxy S25 series, which is expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2025.
The tipster, who has a good record of providing information about Samsung’s future products, has suggested a slim size and an early launch date for the Galaxy Ring 2. This first generation device comes in nine different sizes, of which the fifth size weighs 2.3 grams and is 7.0 mm wide, while the thirteenth size weighs 3 grams. Compared to the existing model, the Galaxy Ring 2 is also expected to have a longer battery life. When Samsung introduced the Galaxy Ring earlier this year, the company claimed that it would have a battery life of up to seven days on two charges.
The tipster also mentioned new features, but did not provide any details. He confirmed in his blog post that Apple is also developing its own wearables, which could be in the shape of a smart ring. However, another recent report claims that the iPhone maker has abandoned the smart ring project to avoid reducing Apple Watch sales.
