Almora. A case of distributing expired pesticides to farmers came to light in Almora, Uttarakhand. Its video went viral on social media, so action has now been taken against the concerned firm. Taking action in this matter, the Agriculture Protection Officer has blacklisted the concerned firm and has also submitted a complaint against the firm in the police station. The police is investigating the matter. The Chief Agriculture Officer has now formed a team of three members for investigation.
The matter pertains to Gram Panchayat Nigrali of Bhikiyasain Tehsil Nyaya Panchayat Chaunlia of Almora district. Here a case of distributing expired pesticides to farmers came to light. The video of bad pesticides being distributed went viral on social media. As soon as the matter gained momentum, the Agriculture Protection Officer assured action. After which now the concerned firm has been blacklisted. A complaint has also been given to the police by the department against the firm.
Three-member team formed
The Chief Agriculture Officer has constituted a three-member team for investigation. In fact, the matter came to light when the batch number, last used, manufacturing date and MRP date were clearly printed separately on the pesticide. As soon as the villagers saw about it, this news spread rapidly in the Gram Panchayat and people made a video of it and uploaded it on social media.
Attempt to tarnish the image of the department
Agriculture Security Officer Anand Goswami said that this was done to confuse the farmers and tarnish the image of the department. Action has also been taken regarding this matter. Apart from this, purchase of chemicals of M/s Nimla Organics Private Limited has been completely banned in Almora district. Let us tell you that there is resentment among the farmers due to this matter.
