Nainital. The condition of health systems in the hilly districts of Uttarakhand is not hidden from anyone. Talking about Nainital, the only hospital in the city is known as Referral Centre. Sometimes there is shortage of doctors and sometimes lack of facilities in BD Pandey District Hospital. Till some time ago, patients were given the benefit of Ayushman Card for basic medical facilities, but citing lack of budget, the facility of more than 50 free tests available to the patients through health card was also stopped by the hospital administration. Due to which the local people as well as the villagers coming from far away places are facing a lot of problems.
Recently the X-ray film got finished in BD Pandey Hospital. After which X-ray was stopped in the hospital. Due to which the local people had to face a lot of problems. Nainital resident senior journalist Kishore Joshi told Local 18 that BD Pandey District Hospital is under a lot of pressure from Nainital and surrounding rural areas. Earlier, while hearing the PIL, the High Court had given instructions to improve the health services, but despite this, there is a lack of health facilities in the hospital. People of Nainital depend on private hospitals of Haldwani.
Shortage of doctors in BD Pandey Hospital
Nainital resident Pankaj Bhatt said that there is a shortage of doctors in BD Pandey Hospital. Shortage of doctors can be seen even in emergency. If a patient needs blood, he also has to face a lot of problems. The hospital management should get the data of blood available in the hospital from outside the blood bank so that the patients can get information about the blood group available. Senior journalist Ramesh Chandra, resident of Nainital, says that due to lack of vision of governance, administration and political power in Nainital, the health facilities of the city have not been improved, due to which the city is quite backward in terms of health facilities.
District hospital became a referral center
Nainital resident Rohit Tiwari said that there is lack of facilities in the district hospital of Nainital. The district hospital has become just a referral centre. At the same time, the attitude of the hospital staff is also not right. Amarpreet Singh says that Nainital city is a VIP city and being a VIP city, the health facilities here should have been of good quality but the health system here is very poor. Most of the patients in the district hospital are referred to Haldwani after first aid.
Need for appointment of doctor-staff
Nainital resident businessman Tribhuvan Fartyal said that the tourist city Nainital is famous all over the world. The divisional headquarters of Kumaon, the district headquarters and the High Court of Uttarakhand are located here, despite this, there are no better medical facilities available for the common people. Because of this, people have to depend on Haldwani and other metros for treatment. Nainital resident DSB College Professor Lalit Tiwari said that a hospital needs good doctors as well as good medical equipment and other machines. Although equipment like MRI, City Scan have arrived in BD Pandey District Hospital of Nainital, appointments have not been made to operate them. At the same time, it is necessary to appoint staff and doctors for good health facilities in the district hospital.
Demand to re-operate Ramje Hospital
Nainital resident and Youth Congress general secretary Sanjay Kumar said that the health facilities in Nainital are in a state of disrepair. The only district hospital has become a mere referral centre. Ramje Hospital, built by the British, is located in the city and till some time ago this hospital was known for its better treatment. People used to come here from far and wide for treatment but due to the apathy of the administration, Ramje Hospital of Nainital is completely closed. The car goes till this hospital. Basic facilities like parking are available here but it is unfortunate for the city that there is no one to take care of the hospital. If this hospital is operated again, the health facilities of Nainital will improve.
