Rishikesh. In Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, a young man died due to drowning in the Ganga river. The deceased was a resident of Bihar. He had come to visit Rishikesh with his friends. While bathing in river Ganga, his foot slipped and he got caught in the strong current. Police and SDRF team conducted a search operation in search of the youth. After a lot of search, the young man was found in an unconscious state. He was immediately taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The police have handed over the body to the relatives after post-mortem.
According to the information received, the name of the deceased was Aditya Kumar (22). He was a resident of Kasma village in Madhubani district of Bihar. Aditya was currently studying in a private university in Dehradun and was living in Suddhowala area. Aditya had come to visit Rishikesh with his two friends. The three friends reached Nim Beach in Muni Ki Reti area for a walk. At around 2:15 pm, all three decided to take a bath in the Ganga river. During this, suddenly Aditya’s foot slipped and he was swept away in the strong current of Ganga.
Friends informed the police
Seeing Aditya floating, his friends got scared. He immediately informed the police. Seeing the seriousness of the situation, the police called the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team. SDRF deep diving team started search operation in river Ganga. Team member deep diver Matawar Singh pulled Aditya out of the river after some time. However, by that time Aditya was in an unconscious state. The policemen immediately took him to the Government Sub-District Hospital. There the doctors declared him dead.
A small mistake can lead to an accident
Reti police station Muni informed the family members of the deceased about the incident. After which there was chaos in Aditya’s house. The family reached Rishikesh on Monday. The police handed over the body to the family members. This incident also comes as a warning as to how important it is to be careful while bathing in the river. Even a small mistake while bathing in fast-flowing rivers like Ganga can lead to a major accident.
