Tanuj Punia, the newly appointed Chairman of Uttar Pradesh Congress Scheduled Caste Department, assumed his charge on Wednesday at the State Congress Headquarters in Lucknow. The program was started by State President Ajay Rai and Tanuj Punia on the statue of Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar.

Left job for Dalit upliftment: Ajay Rai
In the program, State Congress President Ajay Rai said that Tanuj Punia left his job in a multinational company and chose the path of politics to serve the Dalit community. He described Tanuj as inspired by his father and former MP PL Punia. Rai hit out at the BJP, saying it was doing injustice to Dalits and creating caste division in the society.

While assuming office, Tanuj Punia emphasized on the policies of Congress and said that Congress did the work of honoring Baba Saheb Ambedkar as the creator of the Constitution and the first Law Minister of the country. He said that his priority is to make the Dalit society aware and connect more and more people with the Congress.
Sharp attack on BJP, Congress’s dedication towards Dalits
Tanuj Punia accused BJP that it only does vote politics and ignores the problems of Dalits. He called for spreading the message of Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge to everyone.

The program was conducted by outgoing president Alok Prasad. He said that under the leadership of Tanuj Punia, the Scheduled Caste Department will touch new heights.
