Nainital. The traditional trekking routes around the lake city of Nainital in Uttarakhand will soon be improved. Under this scheme of the district administration, beautification work is to be done in the trekking routes located in and around Nainital. There are many trekking routes around the city, which were used by people for transportation in ancient times. After beautification of these routes, they will also be opened for tourists. On one hand this will promote tourism and increase employment opportunities, while on the other hand traditional mountain paths will also be preserved.
Nainital District Magistrate Vandana Singh, while talking to Local 18, said that there are many traditional trekking routes located in and around Nainital city, which have been lying deserted for a long time. However, if these trekking routes are developed, there is immense potential for tourism here. The Tourism Department is marking these trekking routes by conducting a survey in a phased manner. Funds have been sanctioned by the administration on the route from Birla Chungi of the city to Kainchi Dham. It will be beautified soon. Apart from this, the department will also conduct its survey on other traditional routes of Nainital and make a plan for beautification of those routes to attract trekkers.
Employment opportunities will increase for villagers
DM Vandana Singh further said that the traditional roads of Nainital city connect the city with many villages. In olden times, people of these villages used to reach the city through these routes. After the beautification of these roads, a large number of tourists, nature lovers, local people and trekkers will reach here. After which, on one hand these traditional paths will be conserved, on the other hand people of the villages situated along them will get employment and tourism will also increase.
