Nainital/Haldwani. In the modern era, there is continuous development, due to which the exploitation of nature has also increased. Its direct effect can be clearly seen in the environment. The amount of poisonous gases in the atmosphere is continuously increasing, and the green house effect can also be seen. Incidents like climate change, melting of Himalayas are coming to the fore. According to a recent research by Aryabhatta Observation Institute ‘ARIES’ located in Nainital, Uttarakhand, the amount of poisonous gases is increasing in the air of the mountains too. Because of this, changes in weather and environmental pollution can be seen in the mountains. In order to reduce environmental pollution and to beautify the lush green mountains that have been destroyed due to indiscriminate construction, a retired professor resident of Haldwani in Nainital district has launched a unique campaign, under which every person should do so in their homes, offices, educational institutions and business establishments. They are calling for planting two evergreen plants in pots outside. His campaign towards environmental protection has started bearing fruit in a very short time. People are planting trees outside their homes and establishments. He has named this campaign ‘Pran Vayu’.
During a special conversation with Local 18, retired professor Shiv Dutt Tiwari, who started the ‘Pran Vayu’ campaign, told that he had started the campaign on ‘Save Himalaya’ day on September 9 this year. Under this, evergreen plants were to be planted in two pots outside every educational institution and establishment and ‘Pran Vayu’ was to be written on those pots. The objective of this campaign is to give the message of Prana Vayu to the entire world and to plant more and more trees on the earth. He said that due to excessive urbanization in the mountains, there are less trees and plants left. Their objective is to increase green areas filled with trees and plants.
Retired professor started from his home
Shiv Dutt Tiwari said that he started the Pran Vayu campaign from his residence in Unchapul, Haldwani. There are 250 to 300 shops in the area from his house to the market. He visited every shop and appealed to plant saplings under the Pran Vayu campaign and requested the shopkeepers to cooperate in saving nature. After which about 80 percent of the shopkeepers in the area have planted evergreen plants in two pots in front of their shops and have written ‘Pran Vayu’ on those pots. He said that his campaign will continue. He is also visiting educational institutions and motivating teachers and students to be a part of the Pran Vayu campaign and preserve the environment.
