Srinagar Garhwal. Some people are fond of collecting ancient and foreign currencies. Naresh Khanduri, a resident of Srinagar Garhwal, Uttarakhand, is also fond of collecting old and foreign currency. He is an engineer by profession but he has a collection ranging from Portuguese to Mughal period coins. Apart from this, till now he has collected currency of 45 countries and more than 6000 coins. His currency collection started when his friend gave him an American five dollar coin. After that gradually he started getting interested in currency collection.
Naresh Khanduri told Local 18 that currently he has currency from 45 countries and more than 6000 coins. In his childhood, his friend had given him an American five dollar coin. Since then he became fond of collecting currency. In the beginning he used to collect only coins. Ever since he got the job, he also started collecting foreign currency.
Collection of coins from the time of Mughal emperor Akbar
He tells that he also has Portuguese and Mughal period coins. Also, he has almost complete notes of Indian currency. He also has a note with number 000786. Apart from this, he also has coins from the time of Mughal emperor Akbar, which were made by cutting them with a chisel. Khanduri says that collecting currency is a kind of addiction, whenever any of his friends goes abroad, he definitely gets foreign currency from them. Once during her job, the Vice Chancellor of Garhwal University had gone abroad. He had information about my currency collection. After returning from abroad, the Vice Chancellor had gifted him currencies of different countries. Similarly, he collected foreign currency by asking for it from his friends and professors of Garhwal University.
Naresh’s son Vinayak is also fond of postage stamp collection.
Naresh Khanduri’s son Vinayak Khanduri told Local 18 that after seeing his father collecting currency, he too became interested in collecting currency. Now whenever he sees any different or foreign currency, he increases his father’s collection. His uncle had given him a Japanese currency. After which he gave it to his father. He said that if he gets a chance to go abroad in future, he will definitely bring foreign currency from there for his father’s collection. Vinayak himself is fond of philatelic collection and has collected many philatelic stamps.
