Dehradun: In October 2023, there was recruitment for 201 posts of Junior Engineer for Uttarakhand Rural Works Department. For this, the youth of the state gave exams and interviews and after being selected, they received appointment letters. Of them, 138 were appointed but 63 were not appointed. There are 47 girls among them who come from remote hilly districts of Uttarakhand. With the selection of the youth who worked hard day and night to prepare for Junior Engineer, the dreams of government job began to blossom in their eyes and in the eyes of their parents. Got the appointment letter from the Chief Minister of the state but 63 junior engineers could not get the job.

Among these, girls coming from the hill villages of Rudraprayag, Khatima, Chakrata, Pauri have to make rounds of the offices in Dehradun. These youth coming from poor class are also facing the problem of water expenses in Dehradun. Among these, some girls are orphans and some are farmer’s daughters. One of these married women told how she worked hard with her family and today she has to leave her children and run to the authorities.
Preparation was done with difficulty and nothing came in hand
Selected candidate Priyanka told that the Rural Works Department in the state has not appointed the selected engineers on 201 posts of Junior Engineer of Civil Technical Electricity. Whereas Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had distributed appointment letters to all the newly appointed engineers in September 2024. He has also got the documents verified on time but he is still wandering. He told that he had prepared for this with great difficulty along with his children and family but now he is disappointed.
The family is facing problems
Mansi, who came from Khatima, told that her father works as an agent in a small private job and he is more than 60 years old. They leave for their work in the morning and travel by buses throughout the day. His mother also cannot walk properly. She is wandering in Dehradun leaving her ailing mother. She doesn’t want her elderly father to face problems.
Deeksha Chauhan, who came from Chakrata, told that her parents are no more and she has no brother. Their elder sister worked hard for seven-eight years to educate them, after getting selected in this examination they thought that the future of both of them would be better but they still see darkness.
Girls forced to wander hungry and thirsty
Ishita said that she has come from Pauri and apart from her family, she has no one in Dehradun. He has to wander with his colleagues for his appointment here. When those people, hungry and thirsty, approach the officials and ask about their appointment, they are asked to meet the ministers. He says that if we had such good talks with our ministers, we would not have been wandering like this.
Mini told that her parents are ill and she is meeting the expenses by taking loan. He is requesting Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to get his appointment done soon. It is very important to solve the problem of these daughters. As time progresses, their faith is wavering.
