NEW DELHI: Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das was discharged from Apollo hospital in Chennai on Tuesday evening after a brief hospitalization for acidity, a central bank spokesperson confirmed. Das is reportedly in stable condition.
Earlier on Tuesday, Das was admitted to the hospital for observation. The RBI quickly issued a statement to address the situation: “Reserve Bank of India Governor Shri Shaktikanta Das experienced acidity and was admitted in Apollo Hospital, Chennai for observation. He is now doing fine and will be discharged in the next 2-3 hours. There is no cause for concern.”
The central bank reiterated that Das’s health is stable and he is doing well.
