Almora. In Almora district of Uttarakhand, a woman lost her life due to wasp bite. The case pertains to Chitai Pant village, located at a distance of 8 kilometers from Almora district, where a woman working in the fields was attacked by a swarm of wasps. The woman was seriously injured and died during treatment, after which there is an atmosphere of mourning in the entire area. After this case, fear is also being seen among the villagers. The villagers demand that the Forest Department should provide financial assistance to the family of the victim and free the villagers from the fear of wasps.
According to the information received, Deepa Devi (34), wife of Pramod Kumar, resident of Chitai Pant village, had gone to cut grass in the field near their house on Tuesday. Meanwhile, a swarm of wasps attacked them. Deepa started making noise. The wasps had badly injured him. After Deepa raised an alarm, by the time her family and villagers reached there, she was seriously injured. The family members and villagers immediately took him to the nearest district hospital, Almora, where the doctors referred him to the base hospital. After giving first aid, Deepa was referred to a higher center but Deepa died on the way.
Body handed over to family members after post mortem
Forest Inspector Indra Martolia said that Deepa had sustained injuries on her head, neck, face and legs due to wasp bites. She was seriously injured. Wasp hives will be destroyed in the area. Base post in-charge Sunil Singh said that after the post-mortem, the body has been handed over to the relatives. After this incident, there is now an atmosphere of panic in the village. The villagers have demanded compensation from the forest department to the family of the deceased.
