Srinagar Garhwal. Many types of dishes are traditionally prepared in Uttarakhand, which are very tasty to eat. Efforts are being made to bring the taste of these traditional dishes to the people by the History Department of Garhwal University located in Pauri district. A food fest was organized by the department at Chauras campus of Garhwal University, where traditional dishes of Uttarakhand were prepared by the students of the department and served to the professors and students. Everyone was seen praising the taste of the mountains.
Dr. Subhash Chandra, Assistant Professor, History Department, Garhwal University, while talking to Local 18, said that the traditional dishes of Uttarakhand were served to the students and professors through the stall by the students of the History Department. All the traditional dishes of Uttarakhand are made from millets. Traditional dishes of Uttarakhand, Jhangore Ki Kheer, Arsa, Rotna and Manduve Roti were prepared by the students. In this food fest, traditional dishes were prepared not only by students of Uttarakhand but also by students from different states.
Traditional dishes will strengthen the economy
Dr. Subhash Chandra says that there is immense potential for tourism in Uttarakhand. Tourists come here in large numbers. If along with Uttarakhand tourism, traditional dishes are also served to the tourists, then it will also strengthen the economy of the local people.
Effort to bring the dishes of Uttarakhand to the people
Meenakshi Rana, a student of the history department, told Local 18 that she had made Jhangore Ka Palyu, Chholiya Roti, Tomato Chutney and Amaranth Halwa. Efforts are being made by him to make the traditional food of Uttarakhand available to the people. Wasita Thapliyal, student of the History Department, said that through this food fest, the traditional food of Uttarakhand will get a new identity. She is a resident of Uttarkashi district and she prepared Sawale, Bhangjeera chutney and Pahari red rice kheer, which people liked very much.
