Apple’s iOS 18 update will be released next week. The list of which iPhones the phone will support has also arrived. But in the meantime such information has also come which may disappoint millions of users. Actually, it has been learned that Netflix will now stop working in many iPhones. Yes, support for Netflix app is being discontinued for some iPhone models.
9to5Mac reported that Netflix has confirmed that it will stop supporting iOS 16 and iPadOS 16. The app will update the Netflix app to run iOS 17 or later. This means that this change will especially affect those devices which cannot be updated to iOS 17.
This list includes iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, Apple’s first generation iPad Pro and iPad 5 tablet. From the latest update, it seems that this change may happen by next week, as iOS 18 is expected to be made available for Apple users on September 16.
Netflix customers who have Apple devices running iOS 16 will still be able to access their accounts in the current version of the app, but it may stop working in the near future. Apart from this, such devices will also not get further Netflix updates and bug fix updates.
This means, devices running operating systems older than iOS 17 or iPadOS 17 will not support the latest version of the app.
Something like this happens with WhatsApp also…
Support of the app on older versions is discontinued due to security reasons. As we see every year with WhatsApp, the company ends its support on some old Android and iOS models. The reason for this is the old operating system. The company stops supporting its latest app updates on old OS.
